Arrival & Dismissal

Please remember that school begins at 7:55 AM each morning with students being marked late or absent at 7:55 AM or after. Please do not have students arrive before 7:30 AM. Breakfast will start at 7:30 AM and will stop being served at 8:00 AM each morning. Some of the most important learning happens first thing in the morning, so it is imperative that students arrive at school on time.

When dropping off/picking up students please use the Roundabout as much as possible. The Roundabout is located in the east parking lot. The Roundabout line does move quickly and efficiently, and there are cones that help with traffic direction and flow. After school, there are many staff members in the Roundabout helping with directions and moving children to the right spots.  Please do not park in the coned area from 7:00 AM-3:10 PM on a daily basis. (Even if the cones are not placed out yet).  

The east entryway (off 6th St.) coming around the corner towards the front of the building is for preschool drop-off and pick-up only. There is a sign that says PRESCHOOL only. Please DO NOT park at the top of that entrance and back out onto 6th St. That is very dangerous! 

The bus lane in front of the school is a NO Parking Zone from 7:30 AM-8:00 AM (or until the buses have come and gone) and from 2:30 PM-3:10 PM (or until the buses have come and gone). This of course is 1:30 PM-2:10 PM on Thursdays. The front of the building is available for parking during the day but please stay behind the yellow line on the sidewalk.  

Please DO NOT drop students off or pick them up in the middle of the street(s), especially behind the buses. This is very dangerous for numerous reasons.  

There is no parking on the blacktop by the basketball courts before or after school. This space is for Central Cares parents to drop off and pick up, as well as for their staff to park.  

If you have arranged a meeting place for drop-off and pickup that is located off/away from the Coralville Central Campus, that is fine as long as it does not disrupt the routine flow of traffic. Typically we experience issues on 5th Ave. and around the corner of 6th Street. Please help to keep traffic moving by not stopping in the middle of the streets to drop off or pick up. 

 

School ends at 2:55 PM each day except for Thursday, which is 1:55 PM. Please be prompt to pick your student(s) up after school. There are many days when teachers and staff have meetings after school. Additionally, there is not adequate supervision for students to stay after school for a long period of time.
